What computer you need

WrapForge works with raw scans that can hold tens of millions of triangles. What matters most is how much memory the machine has — not the gaming performance of its graphics card.

Entry

Single parts

Bonnet, door, fender, helmet — scans of roughly up to 300 MB.

Processor
6–8 cores, e.g. Ryzen 7 or Core Ultra 5
Memory
32 GB RAM
Graphics
NVIDIA with 8 GB of memory, e.g. RTX 5060
Storage
1 TB NVMe SSD
Display
27″ Full HD (1920 × 1080)
We recommend

Daily production

A working shop — several parts at once, half a car body, nesting and print.

Processor
12–16 fast cores, e.g. Ryzen 9 or Core Ultra 9
Memory
64 GB RAM
Graphics
NVIDIA with 16 GB of memory, e.g. RTX 5060 Ti
Storage
2 TB NVMe SSD
Display
27″ QHD (2560 × 1440)
Maximum

A whole car at once

A scan of the complete body, 1–2 GB, without splitting it into parts.

Processor
16 cores, top-of-the-range Ryzen 9 / Core Ultra 9
Memory
128 GB RAM (2 × 64 GB)
Graphics
NVIDIA with 16 GB or more, e.g. RTX 5070 Ti
Storage
2 TB system drive + 4 TB for scans
Display
2× 27″ QHD

What to keep in mind

  • Rule of thumb for memory: allow 8–12× the size of the scan file. A 2 GB scan asks for 20–30 GB of RAM while it loads.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Computers with an ARM processor (Snapdragon) are not supported.
  • An NVIDIA graphics card with OpenGL 4.5 support and the Studio driver. Graphics integrated in the processor are not enough.
  • Page file: leave 64–128 GB of it on the SSD. With large scans it is what stands between a short slowdown and a crash.
  • Disk space: about 1 GB for the program itself and another 5–10 GB per project with scans.
  • Display resolution: 1920 × 1080 at the very least. QHD at 100 % scaling is sharper than 4K at 150 %.
  • An internet connection for licence verification (HTTPS, port 443). A short outage will not interrupt your work.
  • If you also scan on the same computer, follow whichever requirement is stricter — scanner software tends to be more demanding than WrapForge.
